USA World Championships Update Today.
There was never any doubt that the Americans were going to win this one, and win it decisively -- which is exactly what they did, beating Iran 88-51. The bigger question was whether they were going to start showing that their offense had caught up to their defense, which continues to be their strongest suit.Truth be told, it hasn't.The turnovers keep on coming and coming, and the lack of ball movement and player movement in their half-court sets was again noticeable against Iran. After the game, Team USA director Jerry Colangelo agreed: "We need a lot of work."And that is why the offensive execution, or lack thereof, is Team USA's greatest concern as it continues moving through its dead week -- a day off, followed by Wednesday's game against Iran and Thursday's against Tunisia, followed by three full days off before the single-elimination knockout round begins as the field at the World Championship is whittled down to 16. "Well, the second half was a lot better than the first half," Colangelo said. "We were still throwing the ball away and forcing things in the first half. We need more movement, and we got better movement in the second half. Not as good as we need to be, that's why we need some good practice time and we can get that after our next game.
"The good thing is we got minutes for people who need minutes. [Danny] Granger could be a key guy because he can score. Tonight he showed he can do that if given some minutes. Kevin Love continues to be a contributor. You can depend on him for almost a rebound a minute, and he can score. And it was good for [Tyson] Chandler to get some productivity.
"But too helter-skelter, and we need some practice time. Real practice time."
Team USA should defeat Tunisia and finish atop Group B with a 5-0 record, and should go into the round of 16 against the fourth-place team from Group A -- a group that had a major surprise Wednesday when Angola defeated Germany 92-88 in overtime. Australia and Angola will now play each other Thursday with the stakes raised, the winner being assured of finishing no lower than third.
After the round of 16, the Americans would move on to a quarterfinal game in which Spain, currently third in Group D after two stunning losses, could very well be their opponent.
And in order to win against a quality opponent at that stage, the Americans are going to need to clean up their offensive act. Their two-point victory against Brazil two days earlier should have been a warning to them, but their sloppiness in the first half against Iran, which played almost nothing but zone defense, was a further indication they still have a long way to go to reach the level they'll need to be at to break America's 16-year drought in this tournament.
To me i think if they can stop making stupid mistakes on the court. If they make it threw the round of 16 i really think they can win the world championships.

MLB News Around The League.
It didn't take Ramirez long to raise eyebrows as he conducted an approximately 13-minute news conference in Spanish, despite the fact he's done interviews in English for years. White Sox bench coach Joey Cora was his interpreter."Feels more comfortable with his language," Cora said. "Obviously he understands [the questions], but he wants to make sure."Ramirez said he was thankful for this opportunity and was happy to be with the White Sox. He also said he feels like a 25-year-old and still has the fire to compete. In fact, the prospect of playing more as a designated hitter with the White Sox instead of being used sparingly as a defensively challenged outfielder in Los Angeles, influenced him to waive his no-trade clause. But with Manny with another team wat will the reaction be with his new team. Will he put out any effert out will he just not give a care or will he try to bring this team into the playoff and make a play off push? Only time will tell wat will happen to him. This may be his finally season in baseball who knows.
Josh Hamilton's right knee is a concern again for the Rangers, after the American League's leading hitter complained of pain in the knee after Sunday's game in Arlington.
Hamilton was moved to designated hitter on Monday and stayed in that same spot for Tuesday's game against the Royals. He had his second cortisone shot in the knee this season at the beginning of August after he said the knee gave out on him right as July ende.
Richard Durrett and the rest of the ESPNDallas.com team have the inside scoop on the Rangers, the American League and Major League Baseball. Blog
"The first shot lasted two months and the second one only lasted a month," Hamilton said Tuesday. "The biggest problem is running in the outfield."
Hamilton said he will get a shot of the lubricant synvisc, which is not the same thing as a cortisone injection, in the knee after Tuesday's game and see how it feels. He also had the lubricant injection in April. He is not planning an MRI at this time.
Hamilton said his swing, one that has produced to the tune of a league-high .359 average with 31 homers and 95 RBI, has some discomfort, but that he can work through that.
Roger Clemens put his right hand on the lectern, leaned down toward the microphone and made what might be the most important pitch of his life: "Not guilty, your honor."
Those words, uttered Monday in a strong, confident voice by the seven-time Cy Young award winner sporting a black blazer and blond highlights in his hair, marked the official beginning of a court case that could taint baseball even further and land the "Rocket" in jail.
U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton presided over an arraignment hearing that lasted less than 14 minutes in the ceremonial courtroom at the federal courthouse, across the street from the Capitol. More news tommorrow see yall tommorrow.

MMA UFC 118 From Boston
What I thought of the pay-per-view was over rated and it was a boring but the prelims on spike was really good for the secound prelims in a row. In the double main event.
In the co-headliner, UFC hall of famer Randy Couture dominated former professional boxing world champion James Toney, submitting the mixed martial arts novice with a first-round arm-triangle choke. The white flag came 3 minutes, 19 seconds into Round 1.
Couture dropped levels for a single-leg takedown inside the first 30 seconds, put Toney on his back and moved immediately to mount. From there, the finish was academic. Punches from the top softened the boxer for the choke near the cage. After a brief readjustment, Couture locked up the choke, passed to the side and waited for the tapout. The match wasnt anything we didnt see coming.
Frankie Edgar made B.J. Penn look average
Solidifying himself as the kryptonite to Penn's lightweight Superman, Edgar retained his 155-pound championship with a near flawless performance in the UFC 118 "Edgar vs. Penn 2" headliner on Saturday at the TD Garden in Boston. Edgar swept the scorecards from all three judges in a unanimous verdict: 50-45, 50-45 and 50-45. Edgar took Penn too peaces and couldnt be stopped and Penn needs too take some time off and reflect on his past few fights and see where too go from here. But only time will tell where he will go from here.

MLB Golden Boy Injured!!!!!
Stephen Strasburg isn't going to throw a pitch for another year or even more the entire sport of baseball isn't going to be quite the same EnlargeSteve Mitchell/US Presswire
Stephen Strasburg could be sidelined up to 18 months after being diagnosed with a torn ligament in his right elbow.
There aren't many pitchers there aren't many players, period who can cause you to interrupt your regularly scheduled life because you just have to watch them do their thing. But Stephen Strasburg was one of them.
And now we can't be sure he'll ever be one of those players again
and dont know wat wat the Nats will really react becase it could be around or evern a little later next year to see him again. It will hurt the club in the inside and the out pretty much. But he has had trouble if u look back earlier in his eariler starts he had trouble warming up and now after one pitch his 2010 and most of 2011 season is shoot but could the club be up to blame in some ways. Only time can tell wat will happen from here for the rest of the season and next.

August 25,2010 blog Preview College and Local football.
Its about that time of year again in the delta and surrounding ares for private , public schools and cant forget college football. This time of year is one of my farvoite time of the year becase of all the football in Cleveland Ms.
Lets start off with private schools i have too tell u about.
Bayou Academy "Colts" record last season of 4-8. Pretty ruff and tough year for the Colts. Last years season was pretty much a rebuilding year for the Colts. There Head Coach is Robney Martin. They have 5 offensive starters and 5 defensive starters returning for the 2010 season. Here are some of the key players for the Colts Winn Roark,sr QB, Davis Worthy,SR. They play Marvell Academy Aug 27 that should be a test for the Bayou Academy "Colts".
The last private school we will be looking at will be Northsunflower Academy "Rebals"
There head coach Tommy Thompson. They have 4 returning for offense and 5 returning for defense. The team had another hard and ruff year last year, but it looks like it will be another hard year when it was a noticed that the team will be moving too eight man football this season they went 2-9 last year. But on a good note they have 4 returning on offense and 5 returning for defense. The team plays Delta Academy Aug 27. Hope the team turns it around this year and has a good year.
Lets start the public schools off with Shelby "Jaguars" went 5-5 last season. They have 8 returning for offense and 7 returning for defense. The team starts the season off with Tunnica a real test early in there season early to see where they are at.
Cleveland High "Wild Cats" There head coach is Scott Eyster. The team has 4 returning on defense and 4 returning on offense. Key Players for the Wild Cats are Cortell Herron,SR,RB Isaac Robinson,SR RB. The Team Record last season was 8-5. The team is going to try to stay on there winning ways and try and make the playoffs again. This season they look fast and tough like the weights really have paid off this summer. But wat they have marked on there schedule is there cross town rivals is East Side "Trojans".
Drew High "Eagles" head coach Lacy Wilson. The team will be trying to rebound from a terrible season. The team went 1-8. There are goimg to have a good rebuilding year instead of having another 1-8 season. There season opener will be againest Ruleville Central High School not going too be a easy season opener.
East Side "Eagles" Head Coach Tauarey Johnson. Returning for offense is 7 and for defense is 8. There record from last year was 8-4. They also would like make a run this year for the playoffs. They play Coahoma County to open there season up. But all eyes are on Sep 24 when all roads lead too the show down between Cleveland High "Wild Cats" and East Side "Eagles".
The last high school i will be previewing will be JFK Mound Bayou "Hornets" The Hornets have 4 returning for defense and 7 returning on offense. They are trying to rebound from a 5-6 record last season. But first they have too get threw North Panola tonight. But North Panola will be a big test for them.
Here are two local colleges i am looking at so far this young season so far. First would be Mdcc 'Trojans" There season last year is really a season to forget. The team went 2-9 a heart breaker of a season. They will try to improve this year when they start there season againest Jones Junior College 9/2/10. Hopefully that will be a start for many wins this season.
The last college i am looking at so far is DSU Delta State University. The Stateman went 5-5 last season for the first time in many years that delta state was bad team last year. But they have made alot of improvements in the offseason. There season kicks off Sep 4 againest Jackson State but the game u should be really looking forward too should be DSU aganist Arkansas Tech the very next week at home.
